Hola Brunch Queens and Kings! Today I wanted to share how I actually prepare for San Diego Comic Con. Yes I have lots of tips and tricks for you, but I thought it would be cool to share what I actually am doing!
First thing first I stalk the Con on Twitter. I figure out what has been announced, what exclusives are going to be sold, and which of my friends will be there. Twitter seems to be the best for this. I am constantly checking the Unofficial SDCC Blog for their rough schedule and coverage of announcements.
Next for me is what I am going to wear. Being the geek chic girl that I am… I like to have an outfit planned for everyday. I am currently planning on cosplaying 1 or 2 days then rocking some fun outfits for the rest.
Before con prep gets crazy I order new business cards and promotional items for my blog. I order my cards through Tiny Prints and am making buttons this year for SDCC… Find me and come grab one!
I also book a few restaurant reservations to have on hand. Hungry friends make for angry con goers. OpenTable is great to use since you can also cancel easily on the app if your plans change. My restaurant favorites are Blind Burro and Searsucker since they are walking distance and rather tasty.
Once the schedule come out I immediately book dinner with my Comic Con compadres to go over the schedule. We decide what our must do vs want to do panels are. All SDCC vets will tell you that you cannot do it all. You will want to make time to explore, hang out with new friends, and go to that super awesome con outside the con event you didn’t even know would be there thing. The Con Outside the Con is always full of crazy fun surprises you will not want to miss.
Once we have a rough schedule everything goes into my Outlook Calendar that is synced to my phone. I add panel summaries to the notes section and always note the location. For restaurant reservations I include confirmation numbers and physical addresses. The more you prepare now, the better your con will be. Phones die so be sure to print one out as well.
It’s the weekend before the con which means packing and shopping. I am fortunate to live driving distance to San Diego so we do a grocery run before we head down, but if not there is a Ralph’s Grocery Store at 101 G Street. This store is even normally on the SDCC shuttle route. It is smart to stock up on breakfast items, healthy snacks, and drinks to have in your hotel.
So right now I am starting to layout my rough schedule, buttons have been ordered, and cosplays are ready to go. I still need to pick out the rest of my outfits, finalize my SDCC pack, and of course get the official schedule.
More fun planning and tips coming soon! Hope to see you all in San Diego!
Who is ready for some more SDCC action!
Saturday I was “The Moment” aka Bad Wolf from the 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who!
Well Saturday was jam packed – starting with getting up super early…
Not hall H early, but you know good ole’ Ballroom 20 early.
Saturday was our main panel day. We saw the Simpsons panel, Once Upon A Time, TV Guide, Vampire Diaries, and True Blood.
Here is a brief re-cap of each…
Simpsons – Really cool hologram of Homer (ala Tupac at Coachella), cool dudes with cool prizes for a very cool (and long running) TV show! All around good panel!
Once Upon A Time – Killian is hot, and will have new clothes this season. Regina has some wicked habits that are hard to kick. The Mirror is back – and WE SAW ANNA AND ELSA… if however so brief! Get ready Oncers… we are about to get Frozen!
TV Guide Fan Favorites: Ok so we stayed for this panel because I was after OUAT and it had Misha Collins in it – this turned out be be our favorite panel of the Con. Aisha Taylor from Archer might be my new #WCW and Gwendoline Christie is just all around kinds of epic! Cheers to amazing women on an amazing panel – oh and Misha just being Misha!

Vampire Diaries – Ok so I love this show… but this panel was a bit of a hot mess. Ian and Paul had some bromance going on and something about Ian taking the ring from set sounded like he was here for some trouble… But we did have Alaric back (swoon) and slight confirmation that Elena was standing by her man Damon, no matter what land of the dead he was living in.

True Blood – Tears, Tears, Tears… Love me of hate me I am #TrueToTheEnd… This panel was super sentimental revisiting the casts favorite seasons and moments throughout the show. And can we just take a moment for Pam – the most amazing vampire that ever lived! Oh we also learned that Deborah (aka Vamp Baby Jessica) is a total nerd and we love her even more.

OH MY GOODNESS!
What a world wind that was. Let em just say SDCC 14 was a major success.
Each day this week I will share a bit about what I saw, what I wore and what went down, so today I am going to share what happened on my day 1!
I arrived in San Diego late on Thursday night. I took the train down from LA – which I highly suggest for any locals! From their I took a cab to our hotel and met my friend (who got in for preview night). We promptly went to bed and set the alarms for 7:20am.
Outfit: Rose Tyler from Tooth and Claw
Shirt: H+M, Overalls: Express
Tights: H+M, Boots: Cole Haan
This was our outside the con day!
We of course started by walking the floor, something I love to do.
My friend had pre-ordered an awesome Guardians of the Galaxy hoodie that we picked up and I might have gotten put in the line up… Oops
We then headed outside the con to check out the Mockingjay Samsung experience.
We got to see the teaser trailer and order from the Samsung beam bar!
We also went to check out our girl (even through she doesn’t know it) Felicia Day’s Geek and Sundry and Nerd HQ at Petco Park. Both we obviously amazing!
We then headed to the Adult Swim Funhouse. We had never been before and thought – why not! This was absolutely amazing – we had so much fun!
We went through the Adult Swim Fun House and got to meet Black Jesus…
Back to the convention floor for a bit then we were off to dinner and partying at Geek and Sundry… which was, in fact, epic!
Check back tomorrow for Saturdays epic re-cap…
You know where I actually went to panels!
Hey Guys it is officially here… COMIC CON!!!
Whether you are attending or enjoying from home I wish you a happy SDCC!
Stay tuned to Bad Wolf Brunch where I will be posting my daily outfits and fun.
Also – be sure to follow me on instagram for even more SDCC action.
Are you ready for San Diego Comic Con?
Well I am… We are just a week out from the most wonderful time of the year and you better be ready! The Con is all kinds of fun, but one day of being ill prepared can leave you frustrated, tired, and worst of all HANGRY. But fear not, you still have plenty of time to get it together and make this the best con yet!
First off – check the program! Figure out what you want to see and be realistic. You will not make a panel in Ballroom 20 then head to Hall H an hour later… Talk to your group and work it out. Personally for me, Hall H can get a bit overwhelming. We plan on doing Hall H Friday and Sunday morning – this means sacrificing the beloved Marvel panel on Saturday, but Disney is pretty good about keeping us informed and there is always D23… The beauty is that everyone’s taste and interests are different – so #embracewhatyoulove and go check out what you like!
So you know what you want to see. Now, make a schedule. Put in times, locations, and any notes you want. For all you type-a’s out there like me, sometimes you have to let the pre-planned chart go on certain days. You may see a line and say you know what… no. And that’s ok, this is your con – do what you want! Make sure to check out all the cool events outside of the convention center as well. Traditionally I have gotten the best swag outside.
Schedule in hand – time to pack. Don’t forget to pack your con bag. Mine is featured below. You will need a back pack with your supplies each and every day. If you are spending a night in line think about other things you will want. I rely on comfy clothes, socks for cold feet, a floor cover, snacks, entertainment, and good headphones.
Some other good things to think about before hand is what you will wear and where you will eat. I am a huge fan of Open Table reservations for Comic Con. The last thing you want to do after waiting in line all day, is wait in line for dinner. This year reservations are pre-booked so we can keep the hangry monster at bay and the lines to a minimum. I personally prefer a good dinner, and grab what we can for lunch. I also pack healthy snacks in my bag and have more at the hotel to re-stock.
I plan out all my outfits before I head to San Diego, plus have a few night time dresses ready to go. If you are cosplaying be sure to have all your outfits and accessories listed out before you pack so nothing will be forgotten at home!
Do you have any SDCC questions? Shoot them over to me on twitter (@malloryann11) or on instagram at BadWolfBrunch. Hope to see you all at San Diego Comic Con 2014.
So last weekend I ventured to Wondercon 2014 and I have to say I had fun!
This was my first time to head to Wondercon which is held in Anaheim. I am a professional for Comic Con and when Wondercon offered me a free badge I said – sure why not!
Now for those of you who do not know Wondercon is a convention put on by the Comic Con International folks. So basically it is well run and celebrates pop culture and fandoms.
There are not as many studios or tv shows at Wondercon as the “movie madi gras” held in July but I still had fun and saw some cool stuff.
On Friday (Day 1) we went and picked up our badges and walked the exhibit floor.
The floor was actually pretty well stocked with great merchandise and a few key players.
DC Comics and Nerdist had good set ups and my new film coming out Friday THE QUIET ONES had a fun booth set up as well.
Saturday was our main day at Wondercon. Mom and I (oh and service poodle Chloe) went to room 300 for panels and my friend Chris went to the arena. I guess we were in Comic Con mode which is get there early and stay. Mainly I wanted to see the Once Upon A Time Panel and the Star Wars Rebels panel – so of course we sat through the Falling Skies and The 100 panels. Highlight of the falling skies panel was I got to meet Billy from Hocus Pocus!
We got to see the Once Upon A Time Panel where we watched the full new episode and Josh Dallas (aka Charming) and Zelena were on the panel to talk about what we had coming for us as the season finished out.
The Star Wars Rebels panel was the highlight of my Wondercon. We got to hear that the Clone Wars team is reuniting for the new Disney Star Wars Rebels. It sounds like this show will feel truer to the original films and it will have a smoother animation style. I will definitely be checking it out!
All in all it was a fun day and I am EXTREMELY ready for Comic Con in July!
