Ok – so I am a little late to the party brunchers but last weeks 5 Fandom Friday was all about where to shop for geeky goods! We know I love to shop and I love all the things geek chic so why not join in on this fun.
I love everything Jordan puts out! Her tees are stylish, soft, and subtly nerdy. I have featured a few outfits on the blog with her designs and more will come!
I love Her Universe for various reasons. One being she makes super cute Star Wars clothes and secondly she championed female fans in the Star Wars Universe. I wear this cardigan A LOT but I have about a million other items from Ashley.
We Love Fine is always a great place to find good and fashion forward geeky chic wears. I love the Miss Marvel tank that I have used and abused. I also love their Star Wars clothes – I wore this super cute Storm Trooper sweater to Star Wars Celebration!
I love Look Human shirts, coffee mugs, and totes. I especially use Look Human for nerdy work out gear! You guys know I love me some running – and looking cute and nerdy while your doing it is best. Watch their site for sales to get some good deals!
I love this Etsy store! She makes darling and flattering Star Wars skirts, dresses and swim suits. She also makes darling baby’s leggings. She mainly makes Star Wars clothes but also has a few Disney designs that she is starting out! I have a super cute Mandalorian skirt that I wear to a lot of my dressier Star Wars events – because yes I have some of those.
Any other stores you love? Let me know in the comments!
Ok brunchers – STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS comes on out DVD/Blu-Ray on April 5th. There are a variety of different exclusives available with different pre-orders so while I did my research I thought you might enjoy it as well. I have also included the E*Bates cash back rewards because every penny counts. If you are new to E*Bates sign up here and start saving money!
$24.95 – This pre-order comes with three limited edition posters. This offer is also available at Walmart, Best Buy for the digital version and other locations. Ebates is currently offering 2% cash back at Target and Best Buy.
Additionally Target has an exclusive cover version with 20 minutes of exclusive bonus content, including a never-before-seen interview with Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn) and a behind-the-scenes look at how the actors trained for their incredible stunts and fight scenes, interactions between the new and veteran cast members, a closer look at how the props team designed and produced some of the film’s new weapons, and lots more. The combo pack also comes in an exclusive collectible package that folds out to show detailed character art. Also $24.99
$24.95 – Pre-Order the Blu-ray Combo Pack by April 4 and you will receive an Exclusive Lithograph set and get $10 off a future online purchase of $40.00 or more. The lithographs are exclusive to the Disney store. Ebates is currently offering 3% cash back at Disney Store.
$29.99 – The Steelbook edision of TFA is exclusive to Best Buy. Ebates is currently offering 2% cash back at Best Buy.
EARLY DIGITAL RELEASE
The digital version available through Amazon Video will be available 4 days early to those who pre-order for $17.99 on April 1st and comes complete with deleted scenes and bonus featureless.
iTunes will offer the same early release and is currently available for pre-order
LIMITED EDITION VINYL
Hot Topic has the super cool limited edition vinyl available for pre-sale now for $34.50. They were selling this same set at Wondercon for $50 (so glad I did not cave). Ebates is currently offering 4% cash back at Hot Topic.
Personally – I think I am going to be getting the Disney Store pre-order and the Hot Topic vinyl? What about you?
Good morning and happy Friday brunchers! I am joining in again on the 5 Fandom Friday fun and this week we are talking nerdy tattoos. I have a big soft spot for nerdy tattoos. I like to think that if something means a lot to you then why not get one. Personally, I like understated small nerdy tattoos that feel like you have to be “in on it” to get. Also – I am all for being spontaneous, but would recommend that you do not put anything on your body that you have thought at least a year about. And yes I am speaking from experience here 😉
I have thought and admired all of these tattoos over the years. While I would not necessarily run out and get all of these I do appreciate their meaning and beauty. I have also realized that I might be a nerdy hipster in this post.
DEATHLY HALLOWS // Let’s be real – this is the nerdy tattoo that fully sums up a journey that so many of us shared and that touched our lives so profoundly. I have many friends who have this tattoo and for each the reason is completely different yet all the same. We cannot deny that Harry Potter truly affected so many of us.
PETER PAN // What can I say I have loved the “off to Neverland” silhouette tattoo for a long time. Peter Pan has always been one of my favorite movies/books/musicals – ok so basically I love everything associated with Peter Pan. I love how small this is and that it can be easily hidden.
BAD WOLF // This is cute, small, is a type face tattoo and you have to know what Bad Wolf is to get it – and who would ever think that I like bad wolf…
COLORS OF THE WIND // Another typical saying I use is subtle disney. Basically we all know that I love the disney… but I like things that are a subtle hint and not screaming it out loud and this colorful and sweet colors of the wind tattoo. Pocahontas as I have shared before I probably my number one Disney lady – that girl knows whats up.
REBELS // I had to throw in a Star Wars tat in the batch and what can I say I love this feminine variation of the Rebel logo.
In case you are thinking of getting a new tattoo here are a few of my other tips:
- Try drawing a version of it with sharpie on you to see if you like it.
- Placement is just as important as what your tattoo is. If you need something that can be hidden try on various materials to see if it remains hidden enough for your liking. For example I have a thigh tattoo and tried on every pair of shorts I own and drew lines on my thigh where they landed. I figured out my shortest pair of shorts and when I went to get my tattoo I drew a line on my leg and was very specific to not cross.
- Investigate where you want your tattoo parlor and artist based off what you want. If you are getting something like the colors of the wind tattoo then you want someone good with color over someone who is great with lettering.
- Also it is good to note that this is not the time to save money… a good artist will cost you. You should look at this as art you have to wear everyday and you need to invest in good art.
Continuing on our Holiday Gift Guide we are moving on to another fandom I love – Doctor Who! Whovians will love getting some Doctor this holiday season.
Every companion will want to cuddle up with k-9 and these slippers will keep you warm while you watch the Doctor on his adventures… they are actually probably warmer than the real K-9.
A great stocking stuffer for your favorite Whovian is the Bad Wolf tea from Geeky Teas.
I love the entire Black Milk Doctor Who line, but this Dalek swimsuit is a standout for sure.
Anglophile and a Whovian – then you will want to get the T.A.R.D.I.S tea pot to brew up a cup and watch your favorite Christmas specials.
Finally, who wouldn’t want a life size Tennant for their house… I mean is this even a question.
Hello Brunch Babes! As we make our way towards Christmas I wanted to share this years geeky gift guide! This year I will be sharing a different fandom guide each day to ensure all the nerds on your list are covered! Happy Shopping!
All of my frequent readers know I love Star Wars and there is no denying this time of year we are winning! So why not kick off the gift guide with some force-ful gifts!
Why not toast your New Years Resolutions in something a little nicer this year like the Limited Addition Star Wars Planetary Glassware Set.
The force is strong with anyone who gets the Star Wars fan in their life the BB-8 Droid from Sphero (especially if they didn’t already buy it).
If you have a serious Star Wars fan in your life – get them a saber they can actually use from Ultrasabers – they are customizable and battle ready.
Everyone loyal to the Empire will want a screen accurate Imperial Officer hat.
Or if you have a runner in your life for the first time runDisney is offering race gift cards – sign them up for the Dark Side half!
Lastly to capture all the memories you will make you will need this Chewy inspired camera strap. Now go get some gift and may the force be with you!
Good morning brunchers! Well I just rounded out my last runDisney race of 2015 with the inaugural Avengers 10K. I decided to skip the half marathon this time around because my work schedule was a bit crazy and I did not want to over schedule myself… running takes time. I was so happy with my decision and the 10k was the perfect amount to end my runDisney year and kick out my current racing season. Ok on to the good stuff…
Since work had been so crazy I was able to leave early on Friday after lunch to head down to the expo. I stopped and picked up my cousin Jules of 4 Well Rules and we were on our way. We made it down to Anaheim rather quickly and went straight to the Expo. Bibs and tech tees in hand we headed straight to get some Sparkle Athletic for our upcoming races. Devin (our real life best friend and running best friend) met up with us at the Expo and we headed straight for the latest expo addition… the race themed cocktail.
We are suckers for a themed drink! We had dinner at Tangaroa Terrace at the Disneyland Hotel then headed to the hotel to get everything laid out for the next morning. Its always fun having a runner slumber party with your friends. We were all asleep by 9pm and then the fireworks woke us up… But we all got back to sleep.
I decided to run as Ms. Marvel for the 10K and wore the We Love Fine Ms Marvel tank with a black sparkle skirt. Boom – awesome costume!
On Saturday our wake up call was 4:00am, which is actually pretty late for how early runDisney races start but our hotel was close to the start line. We made our way to the corrals and did notice a little extra security. Jules and Devin were in Corral A and I was in Corral C – those fast kids. Corral C was cool (haha get it C for cool) and after about 15 mins we were off.
I ran a 30:30 Galloway method and decided to have fun this race. I made a total rookie move and had to pee at the first porta potty (notorious long lines) but oh well sometimes you just have to go. After that I felt great! We ran by the convention center and I had so many fond memories of Star Wars Celebration, D23 and Wondercon and then we were in the parks. I skipped the first photo opp with Thor and ran ahead to Black Widow. Jules was texting me where the character were so I could run over my 30 seconds when I wascoming up on one. BTW Black Widow looked me up and down and then said “Hi Thor” well #fail Natasha.
I also skipped the Hawk Eye photo opp because I knew I wanted a picture with Captain America. So I ran on ahead and found Cap… and waited about 25 mins. I was in line with the lovely ladies from Run All the Races Kimberly and Gail who are costume pros! My only note on the course was that these were the only characters out… would have loved to seen some Disney or Pixar character opps as well.
Got my picture with Cap and hustled my butt to the finish line. My cousin ordered my breakfast and it was delivered right after I sat down… just like magic! The rest of the day was great. We chilled at Cove Bar, dined at Carthay, and cried on Hyperspace Mountain (more coming on this next week)!
All in all the Avengers assembled and we were #nerdgirlsontherun (more coming on this too)!
So excited for the rest of my running season which includes a Color Run, Turkey Trot and 2016 runDisney gloriousness!
Well brunch babes! I did it – I am officially in the 501st Legion. One of my 30 by 30 goals was to become a member and I did it! My costume in Juno Eclipse in her dress uniform.
I cannot wait to start trooping with the Southern California Garrison.
Cheers brunch babes! I am so excited that SUPERNATURAL comes back tonight!
Supernatural is one of my favorite shows and I love Dean Winchester – argue in the comments who your favorite is. Dean is funny, loyal, but he also has a dark side. I am so excited to see what the Winchester brothers are going to be facing for season 11. All we know if that the darkness is coming…
Here at Bad Wolf Brunch we love a good theme and an even better cocktail.
A classic dark and stormy is the perfect cocktail to accompany the premiere of Supernatural. I think Dean would approve!
A classic dark and stormy has four main ingredients: ice, lime, ginger beer and dark rum.
For Dean’s version we switched to Sailor Jerry’s Spiced Rum because it is delicious!
To create the “dark and stormy” layering pour four ounces of ginger beer over ice then top with 2 ounces of rum and garnish with lime. I like mine extra lime-y so I add some on top of the ginger beer and on top of the rum.
So let’s toast to another season of Supernatural – long may the Winchester’s reign!
This was such a fun day and felt like the Black Friday of Star Wars. I went to the only L.A. Target offering a midnight release party. I showed up at about 11:20pm after seeing a few twitter fans reporting from the line. Chris Hardwick aka Nerdist was “hosting” the event and said hi to literally everyone (proof). Pretty cool of him!
We waited for 12:01am and made our way to the super secretive curtained off area to get our Star Wars goodies.
Once inside we were greeted with apparel, home goods, and kids accessories. Toys were in a separate line you joined once making it through the tented room. I bought an amazing women’s THE FORCE AWAKENS shirt, a Vader coffee mug, and some “Come to the Dark Side” womens PJs. I also collect the ladies of Star Wars figurines so I needed to add a Rey to my collection. I tagged teamed with my mom in Texas to score that one since her lines were shorter. Thanks mom!
The next day I did my online shopping which for me was all about Lost Stars the new Star Wars Young Adult novel. Thats right! I will be reading this week and next and will do a write up on it! I also plan to read Aftermath and Moving Target but those will probably be a holiday reads for me.
Oh and if you are wondering I did not get the BB-8 Sphero droid… But I am sure I can find one to play with!
Did you shop Force Friday? What goodies did you get?
Rise and shine all my Bad Wolf Brunchers! Today we are just going to hang in bed for a bit – geek chic style. Just because it is time for bed (or a Netflix marathon) does not mean we cannot show off our cute geeky pride.
I am so excited that the Original Underoos are back and even for us adults! You all know I love me some Star Wars and my favorite droid R2-D2 makes the perfect companion for a slow morning. My mean, weekends were basically made for Underoos (especially in the heat LA has been having).
Fear not they also have a Harley Quinn set for those of you who love Mista J.
I seriously love that they kept their retro packaging and so does my Ewok Princess Neesa.
