Good morning brunchers! Well I just rounded out my last runDisney race of 2015 with the inaugural Avengers 10K. I decided to skip the half marathon this time around because my work schedule was a bit crazy and I did not want to over schedule myself… running takes time. I was so happy with my decision and the 10k was the perfect amount to end my runDisney year and kick out my current racing season. Ok on to the good stuff…
Since work had been so crazy I was able to leave early on Friday after lunch to head down to the expo. I stopped and picked up my cousin Jules of 4 Well Rules and we were on our way. We made it down to Anaheim rather quickly and went straight to the Expo. Bibs and tech tees in hand we headed straight to get some Sparkle Athletic for our upcoming races. Devin (our real life best friend and running best friend) met up with us at the Expo and we headed straight for the latest expo addition… the race themed cocktail.
We are suckers for a themed drink! We had dinner at Tangaroa Terrace at the Disneyland Hotel then headed to the hotel to get everything laid out for the next morning. Its always fun having a runner slumber party with your friends. We were all asleep by 9pm and then the fireworks woke us up… But we all got back to sleep.
I decided to run as Ms. Marvel for the 10K and wore the We Love Fine Ms Marvel tank with a black sparkle skirt. Boom – awesome costume!
On Saturday our wake up call was 4:00am, which is actually pretty late for how early runDisney races start but our hotel was close to the start line. We made our way to the corrals and did notice a little extra security. Jules and Devin were in Corral A and I was in Corral C – those fast kids. Corral C was cool (haha get it C for cool) and after about 15 mins we were off.
I ran a 30:30 Galloway method and decided to have fun this race. I made a total rookie move and had to pee at the first porta potty (notorious long lines) but oh well sometimes you just have to go. After that I felt great! We ran by the convention center and I had so many fond memories of Star Wars Celebration, D23 and Wondercon and then we were in the parks. I skipped the first photo opp with Thor and ran ahead to Black Widow. Jules was texting me where the character were so I could run over my 30 seconds when I wascoming up on one. BTW Black Widow looked me up and down and then said “Hi Thor” well #fail Natasha.
I also skipped the Hawk Eye photo opp because I knew I wanted a picture with Captain America. So I ran on ahead and found Cap… and waited about 25 mins. I was in line with the lovely ladies from Run All the Races Kimberly and Gail who are costume pros! My only note on the course was that these were the only characters out… would have loved to seen some Disney or Pixar character opps as well.
Got my picture with Cap and hustled my butt to the finish line. My cousin ordered my breakfast and it was delivered right after I sat down… just like magic! The rest of the day was great. We chilled at Cove Bar, dined at Carthay, and cried on Hyperspace Mountain (more coming on this next week)!
All in all the Avengers assembled and we were #nerdgirlsontherun (more coming on this too)!
So excited for the rest of my running season which includes a Color Run, Turkey Trot and 2016 runDisney gloriousness!
Trick or treat brunch babes! Well the witching hour is upon us and to celebrate this weekend I had a Hocus Pocus Watch Party! My crew loves Halloween so we decided to all get together and watch our favorite film while we sang along and quotes the whole thing.
We also made it a little more fun by making it a drinking game and here were our rules:
We love all things fall and Disney so our menu consisted of all things you could find in the park. We made Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese Soup, Big Thunder BBQ S’Mores Bake, and had some homemade pumpkin ice cream.
For the Hocus Pocus drinking game we used wine, but also made a cocktail of pumpkin spice spritzer with rum and ginger beer… super delicious!
How are you celebrating the Halloween season? You still have time to play our Hocus Pocus drinking game!
Happy October brunch babes! It is officially Halloween season (for the rest of the world). If you didn’t already know I am obsessed with Halloween and always have been. The costumes, the decor, the parties, the movies… everything about it is great. I have so many fun things planned to share with you this month as we celebrate my favorite time of year.
You all know I love Disney and Disney Parks do Holidays right! Halloween is no exception and keeping with tradition is my favorite holiday at the parks. Don’t get me wrong I love Christmas, but I feel like Halloween kicks off the season of holiday celebrations.
Disneyland gets fully decked out for Halloween with amazing decorations all around the parks. My cousin and I went down to Anaheim for a Halloween day where we wanted to experience all the spooky goodness.
First and foremost, Jack Skellington “wrecks the halls” of the Haunted Mansion when the Nightmare Before Christmas takes over. This amazing overlay celebrates when two holidays collide. Disneyland aficionados will note that there are a few new surprises every year in the overlay and a new gingerbread house in the ghost dance party scene. Bonus it smells like gingerbread.
In addition to the overlay at The Haunted Mansion… Space Mountain gets to join in on the fun with Ghost Galaxy. Basically a space ghost is chasing you around outer-space. It is very fun and always something we look forward to every year.
If you roll with my crew at Disney then you know that food and drinks are just as important as the rides. The Spooktini available at Carthay Lounge and Cove Bar was on our Halloween hit list especially since it comes with a poison apple. Sorry Snow – this time we are siding with the villains because this is awesome.
I will have so much more fun to share with you as we near the night of all hallows eve. But a few sneaks include Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Universal Halloween Horror Nights, and a few more tricks up my sleeve.
Let me know in the comments what you have planned for October?
Good morning brunchers! Well this weekend I had the opportunity to attend the amazing D23 Expo in Anaheim where we celebrated all things Disney. This was my third time to attend and I thought that this was the best D23Expo yet!
Friday kicked off with a bang with the Disney Legends Panel where the new legends were inducted in. Legends like George Lucas, Johnny Depp, composer Danny Elfman, and animator Andreas Deja were present to accept their place into the Disney Legends.
Also on Friday was the Disney Animation panel. I was not at this panel but my cousin was and she reported that we will all cry our eyes out in The Good Dinosaur and that people lost it when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came out for Moana.
Saturday was an early morning for the Bad Wolf Brunch team as we got up and got in line for the ever popular live action panel. I loved how D23 did their line system this year.
You could pick the section that you wanted to sit in and got a wrist band that guaranteed you were in. After you got the wristband we were able to go out and grab coffee and breakfast for everyone while some held our spot in line. We waited inside in cues where they had TV’s playing Disney short film and fun clips. Outlets and charging stations were available for use. They frequently came over the loud speakers with updates and alerted everyone when it was time to take chairs and anything else back to the car. I don’t think any convention has really figured out the solution to the epic live problems we are having but I will say D23 was more comfortable and more informative than SDCC. Also speaking of cons – the new hall at the Anaheim Convention Center is amazing and holds more people than Hall H…
For the live action panel Disney made us bag up our phones and cameras. We saw a concept art sizzle piece for Doctor Strange and some AMAZING footage of Captain America: Civil War (like mind blowing). Seriously this is going to be dope.
The live action version of Jungle Book gave us a first look at footage and it looks great. I am so excited for this new adaptation. We also got a glimpse of the live action Beauty & the Beast which is a confirmed musical! OMG Hermione as Belle, my life is made!
My biggest fangirl moment (until the big one that left me screaming) was the announcement that Orlando Bloom will be back in the next installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise!! I literally screamed!!
Then it was time for STAR WARS! Finally this year I made it into a freaking Star Wars panel! We screamed when Harrison Ford came out but then everyone got literally kicked off the stage for Bob Iger to come on. You know when Bob comes on stage it is going to be big. Then they dropped the bomb I had been hearing rumors about for forever… STAR WARS LAND! (Photo is from Disney Parks Blog)
We will be getting two Star Wars lands in both California and Orlando at Hollywood Studios! The Disneyland addition will be 14 acres and the largest single land expansion ever! We have been promised a Millennium Falcon attraction where guests will be behind the controls of the famed ship. Additionally a cantina was discussed… Take my money now please! Literally this left me screaming I am so freaking excited.
In the next panel, Parks and Resorts, they went further into the Star Wars additions to the park. While we wait for our lands we will get the Star Wars Launch Bay later this year! We will also be getting Season of the Force at both parks in early 2016 which will be a special seasonal Star Wars celebration with special entertainment, themed food (yes!) and at Disneyland a special temporary wrap on Space Mountain making it Hyperspace Mountain. They also announce a new destination will be added to Star Tours from The Force Awakens – basically it is a good time to be a Star Wars fan.
Take a moment and process all of that…
Next up for us was one of my favorite panels of all times – The Disney Broadway Originals Panel! Disney brought us three of their Broadway stars to perform a few select songs from all of their original productions. This is something that is so special because it is real broadway and a total highlight! No other con offers this and is truly just utterly amazing! The singers featured were Ashley Brown (who originated Mary Poppins on Broadway), Tony Award Winner James Monroe Iglehart (who originated the Genie in Aladdin) and Josh Strickland (the original Tarzan on Broadway). Talk about talent.
Of course there is the convention floor which is also very unique at D23 Expo. It is extremely curated with destinations for every aspect of Disney. This year there was a large presence for Disney Consumer Goods aka what you can buy. I mean look at this Elsa wedding dress.
They showed off some of the new goods for Star Wars and had some TFA Stromtroopers out! Force Friday on September 4th will mark the arrival of all the new toys, collectibles, books and apparel surrounding The Force Awakens with many stores around the world opening their doors at midnight for a special celebration of all things Star Wars. I also got to see the costume exhibit from The Force Awakens that I missed at Star Wars Celebration – thanks Disney!
As you can tell there was a lot to see at D23Expo and a lot of amazing announcements! I am so excited for all the new and amazing fun coming from Disney and am so appreciative that they put on this event where fans truly feel part of the Disney family!
Cheers brunch babes! Sorry for the delay in posts but this bad wolf got pretty sick… Not to fret we are back feeling better and getting ready for an amazing weekend at Disney’s D23 Expo! This will be my third D23 Expo and it is an amazing weekend full of all things Disney.
What is D23 Expo? Well every other year Disney puts on its very own convention in Anaheim full of film news, tv updates, park reveals, and even broadway fun. Disney is great about really bringing out all the stops. What you can expect from D23? Lots of big name cast – last time we saw Angelina Jolie, Idina Menzel, Chris Pine, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and a live sing-along to Lets Go Fly a Kit with Richard Sherman (insert tears here).
Fun fact – D23 Expo 2011 was my first convention EVER! Look how young I was…
So what are somethings you can expect for D23 Expo and how is it different from other cons?
STAGE PASS: For the two smaller stages (Stage 23 & Stage 28) the Expo offers a Fastpass to the panel. You sign up for a Stage Pass on the Hall floor starting at 9am for panels s from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and at 12:30pm for panels from 3pm and later. Of course first come first serve.
Hall D23: AKA the big bad Hall where all the main presentations happen. Here you are coming for a large chunk of time where a whole section of Disney will be presented. For example live action movies will be all the live action movies. You cannot choose Marvel or Star Wars or Disney – you get them all. Same for animation and parks. Also worth noting this room is cleared after every major panel.
STORE PASS: New this year because D23 is a shopping paradise! Like Stage Pass you can sign up for a 30 minute shopping window at the Disney Dream Store, Disney Store, and Mickey’s of Glendale on the Expo floor. Lines for this are long and the merch is good!

Hey brunch babes! Today we are raising a glass to Disneyland and it’s Diamond 60th Anniversary!
Disneyland opened its gates to us on July 17th 1955 and for 60 amazing years it has a source for happiness and joy for all who enter. In honor of this Disneyland is celebrating all year for it’s diamond anniversary and everyone is ready to sparkle!
Of course, I had to make the trip south to check out the Happiest Place on Earth and see all the new diamond fun for the 60th Anniversary. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is covered in diamonds and ready to sparkle. I decided to wear my new Jordandene Olaf tank with white lace shorts from Lilly Pulitzer for Target, and the accessory of the year the Diamond 60th Minnie Mouse Ears. Check them out here.
Olaf agrees that some people are worth melting for!
New for the Diamond 60th celebration is a all new fireworks Disneyland Forever, a new World of Color celebrating Walt’s vision, the Mad Tea Party has returned with a Diamond addition, and a new night time parade called Paint the Night.
Other new fun around the parks include a new ghost in the Haunted Mansion, an HD version of Soarin’ Over California, and some fun new food and drinks to really get the 60th going! If you can make it – – this is a great year to come out and celebrate Disneyland.
I cannot wait to share more fun from Disneyland with you!
Oh my goodness!! Another runDisney Princess Half Marathon in the books and I must say – they just keep getting better and better!
This year I ran again with my cousin Juliana and we stayed at the Villas at the Grand Floridian.
We had a 3am wake up call to get ready for the race. Staying at the Villas we had our kitchenette to make breakfast before the race. We were out the door by 3:45am and took the monorail to Epcot.
It’s good to note that if you are staying at a monorail hotel you will need to plan more time to get to the race!
We got to the start area and did some quick preparations for the race, dropped our bags at gear check, and made our way to the corrals. We only had about 10 mins in the corrals before the start. I was in corral I so I started exactly at 6am. With a little magic and pixie dust I was off!
I went with the 30:30 run walk run ratio that Jeff Galloway had suggested at Star Wars Half. I decided to run through the first groups of characters. Pirates, Heroes and Villains always have really long line and are normally still out when you swing back around (plus better lighting).
Before I knew it we were in the Magic Kingdom and I was running through Cinderella’s castle! I decided to run as Pocahontas this year. Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest with me!
I saw my mom and god-mother just outside the castle and continued on. The weather was wonderful and I was feeling good. I was keeping 14 minute miles and decided – yup we are going to do some pictures! I had to take a photo with tourist Genie… always reminds me of my dad!
The heroes and princes were still out when I came back around so I decided to keep the tradition alive and grab a pick! John Smith was only a bit flirty…
From there it was a quick few miles to the finish. I always love the gospel choir right before we end. I need a little Jesus on a Sunday morning to get me to the finish line. I wish we had this is California as well. I made it through and finished strong!
After the race it was time to celebrate. We all met up and had brunch at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian to celebrate. Juliana completed the Glass Slipper Challenge and I got my Coast to Coast medals. Brunch was great and my Princess Half was even better!!
This weekend I completed the Inaugural Rebel Challenge consisting of a 10K (6.2 miles) and a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday – and let me tell you this was the best race(s) ever! The spirit of Star Wars and the fandom was everywhere and fully embraced. It was truly magical and you could feel the force in the air. Full recap below.
I took off from work a little early to get down to the Expo for bib pick up. Traffic was bad but it was nice to have a fairly empty expo to hang out at. We got there around 7pm, so had an hour to look around. We ate dinner at Tortilla Joe’s in Downtown Disney then headed to the Marriott Suites to get some sleep for the 10K on Saturday morning.
Wake up call was set for 3:30am and we were on the shuttle by 4am!
We got to the pre-race party and Disney really outdid themselves with this one! They had the Jedi Academy there to teach us how to use the force and fight off Vader. Stormtroopers and Jedi’s were also available for pre-race photos.
Our running group decided to be Ewoks! I wore the Her Universe Ewok hooded tank – and was not alone… I made some wrist and leg cuffs out of fur from JoAnnes and was ready to go!
We corralled up and headed out for the start. The character lines were sooo long but I was just having a good run – so I kept it simple and just ran. I stopped for a photo with Sabine and Ezra from the new Star Wars Rebels – but the photo turned out bad. Sad Day. I was keeping good pace and at mile 5 thought – oh hey… you have to run 13 miles tomorrow maybe you should slow it down, and I did.
I crossed the finish line and was so happy to receive my super cool Star Wars 10K medal.
We went back to the hotel for showers and a nap then headed to Disneyland for lunch and a photo shoot. My day was made when the Fairy Godmother showed up and hugged me for being a champion. She is my idol! Life goal = retire to become the fairy godmother.
We rode Space Mountain and Star Tours… keeping with the weekends theme and then headed to Disney’s California Adventure for dinner at Wine Country Trattoria.
After dinner it was a quick stop to the Anaheim Target for some gatorade, cliff bars, and I picked up a pair of compression socks to sleep in. Then it was time to stretch out and go night night!
Wake up call – again 3:30am… ugh. But I was on the bus by 4am and was ready to go.
I wore my girl Mara Jade’s get up. If you don’t know who Mara Jade is – well its because she is from the books and comic books. In short she was trained to be the Emperor’s hand and assassin. She is a total bad ass who can wield a lightsaber and a blaster – oh and she really want to kill Luke Skywalker, until she falls in love with him.
Ok well back to the race! I met up with my friends and then headed to the corral. We were off before we knew it. One – props to Disney for having enough Stormtroopers out so the lines weren’t bad. Vader and the Luke & Leia lines were still long but anyone could have jumped into one of the shorter trooper lines. Two – I loved this course. I know some people were worried about the straight away being boring, but I found running by the hotels led to so many more spectators out. The spectators were also on point with great signs and everyone was in the Star Wars best! A true highlight was the 501st and Mandalorian Mercs towards the end of the race. So many photo ops and so much energy – both organizations truly rock!
This race seemed to fly by and before I knew it I was back on Disney ground and nearing the finish. In traditional Mallory form – I pulled over right at mile 13 and got ready for the finish line (aka adjusting the costume and putting my cell away). I high-fived Minnie and Mickey as I crossed the finish to complete the first ever Star Wars Half and Rebel Challenge. Bling in hand I was a very happy sith-turned-jedi!
Apologies for the hiatus… I was at the Toronto Film Festival for work – but now I am back and what better way to celebrate being back than going to Dapper Day at Disneyland!
Dapper Day is where we step back in time to a more elegant time, and visit the park in style!
It was a very hot day in the most magical place on earth but we did have a very good time!
I adored my outfit down to the shoes. My Baby Jo in Los Angeles is where I bought my dress and shoes. They are also experts in all things dapper and rockabilly, and really helped a girl out!
I was particularly proud of my hair and make up for the day!
I do think I need to work on my cat eye a bit but for a first go I think I did a pretty good job!
It was also the first day of Halloween – which is my most favorite holiday!
We were able to ride Nightmare Before Christmas’s Haunted Mansion and spent the evening at the zombie-fied Mad Tea Party… so much fun!
At the Dapper Expo we checked out some very cool vintage finds and I got an amazing sketch of my dapper wear that will be going in my bedroom.
Of course no day at Disney is complete without a little my friend Stormy…
The next Dapper Day at Disneyland will be March 1st – will you be there?

I hope you all had a very happy Easter Sunday – I know I did… I was at Disneyland!
I had never been to a Disney park on Easter Sunday before but I have to say this may become a new tradition. Disneyland really pulled out all the stops to make a special and very fun filled Easter.
Big Thunder Ranch was completely decorated for Easter. They had three character stands where guest could take pictures with different rabbits including Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh, Roger Rabbit, Thumper, Briar Rabbit, and of course the Easter Bunny! Kids (and adults) could decorate a pair of bunny ears, and the had a wonderful “Bunny Hop” where a band played “western” songs and encouraged everyone to dance along. All in all – very cute and very festive!
This is where they also had the professional egg decorators – just wow!
We then had brunch at Ralph Brennan’s and enjoyed a southern spread of crab cakes, po boys, and bloody mary’s before heading into the park.
Over in California Adventure, we went to the preview screening of Maleficent were we saw a scene and an extended promo of the film in 3D. This looks AMAZING and I cannot wait to see the film. It was very neat watching it in the Bugs Land theater and having added effects of smoke and lights!
@DisneylandToday hosted the #HoppyHunt with a scavenger hunt on twitter as well.
The end prize was a cookie and a special button.
My most favorite activity of the day was participating in the 2014 Egg-Stravaganza Easter Egg hunt as Disneyland. Disney provides a map with where the eggs are located and it is your job to go out and find them. Some were easy, but others were tough making it fun for big kids (aka adults) to participate in!
Such a great day and on top of it we had wonderful weather!
What did you do on Easter?
“Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life– is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” Romans 8:34
