Trick or treat brunch babes! Well the witching hour is upon us and to celebrate this weekend I had a Hocus Pocus Watch Party! My crew loves Halloween so we decided to all get together and watch our favorite film while we sang along and quotes the whole thing.
We also made it a little more fun by making it a drinking game and here were our rules:
We love all things fall and Disney so our menu consisted of all things you could find in the park. We made Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese Soup, Big Thunder BBQ S’Mores Bake, and had some homemade pumpkin ice cream.
For the Hocus Pocus drinking game we used wine, but also made a cocktail of pumpkin spice spritzer with rum and ginger beer… super delicious!
How are you celebrating the Halloween season? You still have time to play our Hocus Pocus drinking game!
Are you ready for Halloween brunch babes? You know I am.
One of my favorite things to do in LA this time of year is go to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. I was so excited to go with several of Team Bad Wolf Brunch (aka my friends) to experience all the latest scares and checking off escaping walkers on my fall to-do list.
I always like to go to Saddle Ranch at City Walk first to get some food and some drinks. We had a late lunch there to make sure we were powered up for our night.
We got there right when the non-publicized early entry started and went straight to The Walking Dead maze, which always builds up the longest line. We were one of the firsts in line to escape the Walkers and other surprises… ugh Terminus is creepy.
After The Walking Dead maze we made our way to the other mazes in the lower lot which were things like Alien vs Predator, Crimson Peak and my favorite This Is the End where we laughed as much as we screamed.
The “Terror Tram” is always a favorite at Halloween Horror Nights and this year we all were invited to a Purge Party to observe the annual Purge that our new founding fathers have put into place.
Well no surprise but we were not going to celebrate the purge but become victims – to bad my survival skills are on point! We survived to get the home of Norman Bates, who I found surprisingly attractive… Oh well, this crew always loves a photo op!
We finished the night with some tacos, a few more mazes including the awesome Michael Myers maze , and a trip to Jurassic Park where we screamed our heads off. Definitely git up the Halloween maze if you go! All is all it was another great year at Universal Halloween Horror Nights!
Well brunch babes! I did it – I am officially in the 501st Legion. One of my 30 by 30 goals was to become a member and I did it! My costume in Juno Eclipse in her dress uniform.
I cannot wait to start trooping with the Southern California Garrison.
Happy Friday brunch babes and welcome to another fun 5 Fandom Friday!
This weeks prompt is our favorite fictional teachers so today I decided to share the fictional women who have taught me the most. Some of this is fun, but a bit is serious because these women did impact my life so profoundly
If you read this post you know that I love and think highly of Olivia Pope. Olivia came into my life at a time where I needed to be reminded that I was worth a whole lot. She reminded me to know my worth in both work and relationships – something 20-somethings living in the age of tinder need to be reminded of. We are all worth more than a swipe right! Plus “You Cannot Afford Me” is one of the best lines of all times.
Truthfully, Mindy came into my life recently and I now consider her one of my role models. Both versions of Mindy (real & fiction) are evident that confidence is key, and having a man in your life is not the be all end all. I also love Mindy Lahiri because she is a successful doctor and really represents being an adult, but not having it 100% figured out. Its ok to have most of it together and a few things a mess – that’s life. I am currently reading “Why Not Me” and loving the wisdom and truth Mindy Kaling pours onto the page. Plus her wardrobe is amazing!
Yes I am including Emily Thorne in this. I started watching Revenge literally right before my dad passed away and felt like I had a character to go through the loss of a parent with me. While the show did take some not so great turns, I still appreciate having a character that even in some small way I could relate to at that time.
ROSE TYLER / BAD WOLF
This one character impacted me so much I named my blog after her. Rose was just an ordinary girl who decided that she wanted more. She went on adventures and ended up saving the doctor countless times. She is selfless, loyal, strong, and the kind of woman I strive to be. There was a time that I was wanting more out of life and I looked to what Rose did – she jumped in the T.A.R.D.I.S. and took a leap of faith to create the most amazing life. Thats what I did too, but without a blue box and the madman inside it.
CARRIE BRADSHAW & The Women of SEX AND THE CITY
If I am truthful with myself Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte all helped shape me into the woman I am today. There is a little bit of each of these women in me, even though I am mostly a Carrie. These women taught me the value of friendship, to never give up on love, to kick ass in the workplace, and to go after what you want most in life. Oh how I wish I had all four of these women around today to give all their points of view on the dating world in which we live. These women wore my friends, my teachers, and my inspiration.
“Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn’t fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it’s comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you’re very lucky, a plane ride away.”
Cheers brunch babes! I am so excited that SUPERNATURAL comes back tonight!
Supernatural is one of my favorite shows and I love Dean Winchester – argue in the comments who your favorite is. Dean is funny, loyal, but he also has a dark side. I am so excited to see what the Winchester brothers are going to be facing for season 11. All we know if that the darkness is coming…
Here at Bad Wolf Brunch we love a good theme and an even better cocktail.
A classic dark and stormy is the perfect cocktail to accompany the premiere of Supernatural. I think Dean would approve!
A classic dark and stormy has four main ingredients: ice, lime, ginger beer and dark rum.
For Dean’s version we switched to Sailor Jerry’s Spiced Rum because it is delicious!
To create the “dark and stormy” layering pour four ounces of ginger beer over ice then top with 2 ounces of rum and garnish with lime. I like mine extra lime-y so I add some on top of the ginger beer and on top of the rum.
So let’s toast to another season of Supernatural – long may the Winchester’s reign!
Hey brunch babes! I am so excited for October and November and put together a little to-do list to make sure I really embrace all that fall has to offer.
What do you want to do this fall?
For this week’s 5 Fandom Friday we are assembling the team we want to survive the apocalypse with. Strangely I actually talk about this (more in terms of earthquakes) with my friends a lot (after watching The Walking Dead).
This girl can shoot, trap, and survive off the land. Plus bow and arrows are totally reusable.
Dean is funny but also he’s the kind of guy who will step up to the plate and do what needs to be done. He is not afraid of getting his hands dirty and is experienced with weapons. Plus a little man candy never hurt morale.
Emily from Revenge is a great addition to my Apocalypse squad. She is a highly trained ninja warrior, plus I just want to be her best friend.
Daryl and Katniss share a lot in common. They are both archery pros, and can live off the land, but Daryl can also track. Bonus points – he knows how to kill walkers if it comes to that.
A little magic on our side never hurt… plus she is smart, thinks on her feet, and is always prepared… and again will become my best friend.
What are your squad goals for the apocalypse?
Happy October brunch babes! It is officially Halloween season (for the rest of the world). If you didn’t already know I am obsessed with Halloween and always have been. The costumes, the decor, the parties, the movies… everything about it is great. I have so many fun things planned to share with you this month as we celebrate my favorite time of year.
You all know I love Disney and Disney Parks do Holidays right! Halloween is no exception and keeping with tradition is my favorite holiday at the parks. Don’t get me wrong I love Christmas, but I feel like Halloween kicks off the season of holiday celebrations.
Disneyland gets fully decked out for Halloween with amazing decorations all around the parks. My cousin and I went down to Anaheim for a Halloween day where we wanted to experience all the spooky goodness.
First and foremost, Jack Skellington “wrecks the halls” of the Haunted Mansion when the Nightmare Before Christmas takes over. This amazing overlay celebrates when two holidays collide. Disneyland aficionados will note that there are a few new surprises every year in the overlay and a new gingerbread house in the ghost dance party scene. Bonus it smells like gingerbread.
In addition to the overlay at The Haunted Mansion… Space Mountain gets to join in on the fun with Ghost Galaxy. Basically a space ghost is chasing you around outer-space. It is very fun and always something we look forward to every year.
If you roll with my crew at Disney then you know that food and drinks are just as important as the rides. The Spooktini available at Carthay Lounge and Cove Bar was on our Halloween hit list especially since it comes with a poison apple. Sorry Snow – this time we are siding with the villains because this is awesome.
I will have so much more fun to share with you as we near the night of all hallows eve. But a few sneaks include Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Universal Halloween Horror Nights, and a few more tricks up my sleeve.
Let me know in the comments what you have planned for October?
